THE PROJECT
The Soiling Project is an initiative promoted by the Polytechnic Institute of Bragança (IPB), financed by EEA Grants Portugal and co-financed by the General Secretariat for the Environment and Climate Action. Its main objective is the recovery of areas affected by fires, with a focus on improving soil health and water storage on the slopes that drain into the Baixo Sabor Hydroelectric Power Plant reservoir. Using low-cost, natural-based solutions and minimal impact application procedures, the project seeks to ensure the resilience of the hillside ecosystem in the context of future climate and associated extremes.
